After Motor Trend, one of the world's most renown car publications, threw up multiple tweets Wednesday hinting at the possibility that they had a direct-from-Apple exclusive on the insanely-hushed Apple Car project, much of the car and tech worlds came together for a combined "Uh, what?" moment.

Thankfully now we actually know what's going on.

Motor Trend hired students from the ArtCenter College of Design to put together designs and sketches of what an Apple Car might actually look like. The problem is, they hyped the whole thing up to make it seem like they had received actual "exclusive" pictures of the new Apple Car directly from Apple.

This wasn't the case.

The video in the tweet above shows off some of the designs and sketches that were created to show off what an Apple Car could look like. It's possible that the actual Apple Car could resemble the graphics in some way, but it's incredibly unlikely. Also, even if an Apple Car does happen, which it might not, we likely wouldn't even see it until almost 2020.  How is this even a question? One is a car that is almost production-ready and the other is a car that, for all we know, might not even exist.

The designs were basically put together by taking styling directions from some already-existing Apple products, like the iPhone.

Motor Trend also included a list of 13 different features that they thought might be on the Apple Car. Though there isn't really much of an explanation as to why any of those features might be essential. All in all, there's nothing here that really tells anyone anything that wasn't already known. It's just another set of mock ups. And for the most part, they're not even that great.
