Nearly half of all NFL players attended college at one of 23 schools, but when it comes to high school, the number of states that produce the most NFL players is smaller.
More than half of all NFL players - including players who have recently appeared in an NFL game but aren't on an active roster - attended high school in one of seven states, according to data from Pro-Football-Reference.
California leads the way with 300 of the roughly 2,300 players, followed closely by Florida (266) and Texas (256). In all, 48 states have produced at least one active player, with only North Dakota and Vermont coming up empty.
