While everyone has talked about how goods and services tax (GST) is going to affect our day to day life in terms of changes in fuel and grocery prices etc., it’s also necessary to know the impact it will habe on our mobile phone bills.

After GST is implemented, post-paid mobile phone users will need to spend more on their phone bills, thanks to the 18% slab that the GST council has put mobile services in, as against the present charge of 15%.

Prepaid users, however, will get reduced talk time against their recharges.

However, intense competition in the Indian telecom sector following Reliance Jio's entry might force telcos to absorb the 3% increase in tax rate on their full talk-time prepaid products and on select data sachet prepaid
