Group Nine Media's food, entertainment and travel brand Thrillist is looking to launch its own Snapchat Discover channel, Business Insider has learned.

The channel will be dedicated to travel and will live on Snapchat's content hub, posting five times a week. Group Nine is currently seeking an editorial lead as well as a copywriter dedicated to it, recent job postings reveal.

The editorial lead will oversee daily editorial content and crack new editorial formats, as well as manage the daily workflow while editing copy and headlines and planning out themed editions.

The copyeditor, on the other hand, will be responsible for writing both original copy as well as repurposing existing Thrillist travel stories for Snapchat, according to the listing.

The channel follows in the footsteps of its sister publications NowThis and The Dodo, which have been pioneers of millennial-focused, short-form video content, and have been on the platform since March 2016 and December 2016 respectively.

Thrillist is also the first publisher to dive in head first into travel content on Snapchat with regular frequency. While Lonely Planet has previously done some special editions around travel, the Discover feed hasn't yet had a constant stream of travel content.

Snapchat, for its part, has been focusing on content as a priority in 2018, and going all out to court publishers - who are still reeling from Facebook's recent NewsFeed algorithm changes. Despite hiccups with the new redesign, it has seen a string of new publishers join the Discover bandwagon, including Vertical Networks' Mindsy this week.

Group Nine was formed in 2016, and is a digital media rollup of the publishers Thrillist, The Dodo, Seeker and NowThis. It is backed by investments from Discovery Communications, Lerer Hippeau Ventures as well as Axel Springer, which owns Business Insider. It is headed by CEO Ben Lerer.
