Finance Minister Arun Jaitley accepted that though the country has immense potential of coal energy production, the discovery is below expectations. Coal production growth has been highest in two decades and the country has seen highest ever LED lights distribution in 2015.

In order to revive the power sector, the government would incentivise gas production from areas which are not exploited like deep sea and unutilized deep sources.

The government would provide calibrated market freedom. We also need to increase the production of nuclear energy in the country. And a long term vision suits best. Hence Rs. 3000 crore per annum would be allocated for generation of nuclear energy.
