Yesterday, we told you about TRAI’s reminder to Indian telcos over rolling out the compensation for call drops, a persistent problem for Indian subscribers.

In yet another development, in the favor of TRAI, the Indian government has given legal powers to the authority, which can ask carriers to pay the compensation.

Talking about the whole issue, TRAI had asked Telcos to compensate customers Re 1 for each dropped call, for up to three calls a day. The scheme was to be started from January 1st, but the telcos moved the courts against the order. Even though the court didn’t put any stay on the order, it asked TRAI not to take any coercive action against them until the next hearing.
