Indian court sends legal notice to Google for listing PM Modi in 'top criminals'

An Allahabad court has issued legal notice to global search engine company Google, its CEO and its India head for listing Indian PM Narendra Modi among the top 10 criminals in the world.

Not only this, the court has also directed for registering a criminal complaint case against the search engine and its top officials. The case would have its next hearing on 31st August.

As per TNN reports, a complaint was filed by advocate Sushil Kumar Mishra on which this action was taken. The complainant said that when "top ten criminals of the world" is searched in Google, it comes up with the photograph of India’s Prime Minister Modi. As per Gupta, he had already written to Google asking it to remove Modi's name but was not given any response, because of which he filed an application before the chief judicial magistrate last year. However, even there his plea got dismissed, with the court calling it a civil case.

Gupta then filed a revision application in court challenging this judgement, after which it was passed.
