Just before India-born-Google-CEO Sundar Pichai flew back to San Francisco he had one last place to visit, a small village in West Bengal called Gokulpur. About two years ago, Google launched a digital literacy program “Internet Saathi” to train women in rural India to use internet, Gokulpur is one of the villages where the program is live. The 'Internet Saathi' initiative is part of Google's 'Helping Women Get Online' campaign, which is designed to create awareness about the benefits of Internet among women in rural India. The initiative is in partnership with Tata Trust, while Google provides internet enabled devices and training material, Tata Trust helps in implementation and rolling out of the initiative.
