GoAir Partially Pays Airport Authority’s Dues, Gets Temporary Reprieve

Budget airline GoAir has managed to get a reprieve from the Airports Authority of India (AAI) after paying some of its dues. The AAI had earlier warned the airline that it would lose credit facilities if it did not pay the outstanding dues.

According to media reports, GoAir has paid Rs 5 crore and it still has to pay Rs 35 crore more. The airline said that it would soon pay off all its dues. “As agreed with AAI, we have already reduced our outstanding through some payments. Additional amounts will be paid shortly,” GoAir said in a statement.

“As agreed with AAI, we have reduced our outstanding through some payments. Additional amounts will be paid shortly, in any case, within the timeline shared with the AAI to bring it down to the bank guarantee level. Although the industry is going through turbulent weather, GoAir has been able to achieve remarkably positive results in the third quarter (Q3), and we do not foresee problems in the future,'' said a GoAir spokesperson.

The Mumbai-based low-cost carrier operates its flights across 22 destinations and it has 19 Airbus A320s in its fleet.
