Glenn Beck Shuns Gap And Ann Taylor From His Utopian 'Freedom Town'

Glenn Beck announced plans for a "freedom town" called Independence on his website earlier this year.

"Media, live events, small business stores, educational projects, charity, entertainment, news, information, and technology R&D – all of these things would have a home in Independence," according to the announcement.

The town was inspired by Disney World, except instead of Mickey Mouse fans, it would be a congregating place for conservatives.

But Beck specifically named two retailers that won't have a presence at Independence.

"There's not going to be Gap here. There's no Ann Taylor. You want an Ann Taylor, go some place else," Beck said.

Kenzie Bryant at Racked blogged about Jon Stewart's hilarious defense of Ann Taylor.

"'Scuse me, sir. Freedom Town sounds great. I like its adherence to our founding principals of freedom and liberty. But where will I get my casual basics?" Stewart said on his show.
