From ceiling fan to comb, Indian political parties woo voters with the strangest party symbols

Amitabh Choudhary, an ex IPS officer, formed a political party with “Comb” as its symbol. The ‘Comb’ is used by Jharkhand Vikas Morcha.

As many as 28 symbols suggested by Election Commission are household implements including kitchen staples like a cup or a jug or even a plate. One such symbol is Lock and Key used by All India United Democratic Front formed in the Assam.

The Samajwadi Party and the Telugu Desam party both have a bicycle as their same and so do the National Panthers Party of Jammu (Kashmir) and the Manipur People’s Party (Manipur).

Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress party (Andhra Pradesh) is using ceiling fans as their symbol.

Voters could also potentially vote for spectacles that is currently the symbol of Indian National Lok Dal in Haryana. The party believes that the symbols depict their vision of working for poor. Om Prakash Chautala is currently leading the party.

Indian Union Muslim League used a ladder to symbolise their party. Election Commission of India has put free symbols like Apple, T.V remote, Computer, earrings and much more up for allotment.

Mizoram people’s Conference uses an electric bulb as its symbol. Lately, Indian political parties have also used symbols like the sewing machine, a stethoscope even a pair of scissors to connect to people.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha of Jharkhand and Shiv Sena from Maharashtra used Bow and Arrow.

It is used by AJSU party of Jharkhand. Mango is another fruit used as a symbol of a political party in India.
