Fun fact on Facebook's stunning second quarter - It has got as many users as were alive 100 years ago

Another great quarter for Facebook just went by and Mark Zuckerberg, a happy founder of the company, announced a fun fact: 1.7 Billion people - as many as were alive 100 years ago on our planet - use Facebook today.

A whopping 1 billion people are on Messenger now and 500 million on Instagram each month. Moreover, Facebook's team introduced some great initiatives in the last three months which did not take much time to percolate and be loved by the users across the globe.

Facebook Live Videos got an overwhelming response with people beginning to use it right from the time it was introduced. Zuckerberg, proud to see response on Facebook Live, said - "From Candace Payne in her Chewbacca mask to Members of Congress sitting in on the floor of the House of Representatives, everyone is using it in new and profound ways."

360 photos, Facebook gave us a new way of sharing photos and exploring it through 360 degree coverage.

Solar-powered plane Aquila, ​Facebook’s quest to use drones to beam high speed internet from the sky to the nearly four billion people (60 percent of the global population) without internet access, 1.6 billion of whom live in remote locations with no access to mobile broadband networks. On July 21, it completed its first successful flight.

QUARTER REPORT
The social media giant’s Q2 earnings report beat expectations on both earnings and revenue, with earnings of 97 cents per share (analysts predicted 81 cents) and revenue of $6.44 billion (analysts predicted $6 billion).

It also added 60 million new users, bringing its total to 1.71 billion users, compared to analyst predictions of 1.69 billion. Its stock which is up 27% in the past year, popped 6% after hours on the earnings news.
