Floyd Mayweather went one-on-one with Larry Williams in a basketball exhibition, had his "ankles broken," then laughed through the humiliation while the Californian crowd jeered.

Mayweather, one of the greatest defensive fighters of all time, retired as an unbeaten boxer after 50 professional bouts in 2017.

Hardly any fighters managed to land a power punch on Mayweather, let alone wobble him. He was famously never put on his back in a boxing ring, though he did receive a count when his glove touched the deck in a 2001 victory.

But Williams, a street baller nicknamed the "Bone Collector," did what Mayweather's opponents failed to do in a professional ring - put Mayweather on the deck.

It all happened in Monday's Monster Energy 50K Charity Challenge at the UCLA Pauley Pavillion in Los Angeles, when Mayweather decided to go one-on-one with Williams.

He was warned not to. An MC could even be heard yelling: "Floyd! You don't have to do this to yourself."

The MC's concern was largely down to the fact that the "Bone Collector" finds it easy to change the pace and direction on an opponent. All the opponent can do when that happens is fall hopelessly to the boards in a move called the "ankle breaker."

Mayweather, an NBA fan who once compared himself to the 2015 Rookie of the Year Luka Doncic, took his chances. He put himself in the Bone Collector's way and wanted to get a highlight-reel block in.

But Williams did what Williams does best. He took the ball around Mayweather, changed directions on him, and left Mayweather with no place to go but the floor.

The crowd erupted in disbelief. Mayweather's ankles got "broken" right in front of their very eyes. "I told you! You didn't have to do this to yourself," the MC said.

All Mayweather could do was laugh his way through the embarrassment, as he gingerly got up from the ground.

Obviously, his ankles weren't literally broken. But his pride may be damaged for quite some time.
