Flipkart is adopting global trends and is making parenthood easy. After revamping its maternity leave policy, the online marketplace has now launched a progressive childcare policy, for benefit of the employees.

For a seamless work-life balance, Flipkart has initiated a Daycare Support Program and tied up with four crèches in Bengaluru.

Under this initiative, Flipkart employees would be able to enroll children up to the age of four in any of these facilities and avail of a 50% subsidy on the fee.

This also makes Flipkart first one to declare such a policy after Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg had disclosed he will take two months off as paternity leave after his child's birth.

“Balancing parenthood with a full-time job can be challenging, especially when you have toddlers. Ensuring that children have the best of care while their parents are at work is very important to us. As almost 35% of our workforce consists of newly married couples and the average age of our employees is 29 years, we realised that we need to have a progressive childcare policy in place," Satheesh KV, director, rewards, Flipkart, told ET.

The monthly cost of daycare will be around Rs 12,000 and Flipkart will be contributing about Rs6, 000 per month as crèche fee.

Flipkart has tied up with four crèches namely, WeCare, Klay, Vivero, and YKROK.

As per reports, around 33,000 employees are going to benefit from this programme.
