Amazon is growing leaps and bounds and is going to give tough competition to its rivals as it infused Rs 1,237 crore into Amazon Seller Services.

This the biggest investment into its Indian flagship firm since 2013 and with this move, Amazon Seller Services has now nearly Rs 3,000 crore.

"We are very excited by our growth and continue to invest in technology, especially mobile, infrastructure and logistics to support seller capability in order to deliver value to our customers," an Amazon India spokesperson told ET.

Amazon Seller is raising money through allotment of equity shares to its US parent company.

It is speculated that with the investment, Amazon will increase its warehouses and step up the delivery services as it also opened its 55, 000 sq ft, 21st fulfilment centre outside Pune.

India’s e-Commerce sector is going through an interesting phase where major players are raising funds to outpace rivals.

In July, Flipkart raised $700 million and in August, Snapdeal raised $500 million.

Reportedly, Amazon's India business is worth around $2 billion in gross merchandise value on the e-Commerce side.
