PwC, the largest of the Big Four professional services firms, pays its consultants substantially more than it pays employees in its core business, accountancy. However, PwC doesn't rank particularly highly when it comes to either salary or bonus satisfaction.

7. KPMG
KPMG may be the smallest of the Big Four professional services firms, but it pays consultants more than both PwC, and EY (which doesn't even make this list). It pays its junior consultants a huge £6 ($8.56) more than rival Deloitte.

6. DELOITTE
Junior consultants at Deloitte may take a £6 hit on pay compared to those at KPMG, but senior employees in Deloitte's consultancy arm earn roughly £2,000 ($2,850) more than their counterparts at KPMG. Deloitte's consultants aren't particularly happy with their bonuses though, ranking third from bottom of this list.

Capco, which focuses its consulting with the financial services sector, is in the middle ground, paying consultants far more than the Big Four accountancy firms, but far less than top tier, specialist consultancies. 4. MCKINSEY & COMPANY
McKinsey is probably the best known name in the consultancy business, and that fame translates into big salaries for staff. Senior staff are the fourth best paid of any consultants in the UK, and junior consultants make the third most money. That, coupled with 50% bonus satisfaction, makes McKinsey a pretty lucrative place to work.

3. BAIN & COMPANY
Bain, which employs around 5,700 people across the world, pays its senior staff in the UK more than any other firm on this list, with an average salary of almost £100,000. Junior staff rank just fourth overall for pay, but earn just £1,000 less than senior staff at Accenture.

2. OC&C STRATEGY CONSULTANTS
Consultants at OC & C, which specialises in strategy consulting, are the most satisfied of any on this list when it comes to their bonuses. A huge 86% said they were happy with their bonus last year.

1. BOSTON CONSULTING GROUP
Junior consultants with Boston Group are paid a huge premium over any other firm, earning nearly twice what junior employees at Accenture get, and a £13,000 premium over their closest rivals in pay terms, OC &C. Employees are also highly satisfied with their bonuses, with Boston ranking second on this measure.
