The world's top 24 universities for studying business and management
24. The University of New South Wales: 83.6 — Located not far from downtown Sydney, UNSW is one of Australia's most prestigious universities. Overall the university is ranked 46th by QS, but for business and management, it's far higher, scoring particularly well amongst employers.
22 (joint). Northwestern University: 83.9 — Northwestern, close to Chicago in the northern USA, has jumped three places from 25th to 22nd in this year's business and management ranking. It scored highly in the citations category, although its reputation, according to the QS ranking system, amongst employers is relatively low.
22 (joint). Columbia University: 83.9 — New York-based university Columbia has one of the best business and management degrees on earth through its central New York campus. It is unmoved from last year's QS ranking.
21. Erasmus University Rotterdam: 84.0 — The Erasmus university enters QS' rankings for the first time in 2016, and goes straight in at 21st for the quality of its business and management degree programmes. Overall, the university is ranked 126th in the world.
19 (joint). University of Chicago: 84.1 — Overall, Chicago is the 10th best university on earth according to QS, but its business and management programme doesn't quite reach those heights, although it still makes it into the top 20.
19 (joint). New York University: 84.1 — NYU is officially the best place in New York City to do a business and management degree. Students of business at the university attend the prestigious Stern School of Business.
18. The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology: 84.4 — HKUST keeps the same position in this year's QS ranking for the best business and management degrees as it did in 2015. The university's business programmes scored well across the board, but did particularly well in the citations per paper category.
17. University of California, Los Angeles: 84.5 — UCLA's business and management has programme climbed five places in QS' ranking this year. Overall in the ranking, it is the 27th best university in the world.
16. Yale University: 84.6 — Yale, one of the most elite and prestigious universities in the United States. The university's School of Management has a dedicated faculty of 86 full-time staff, according to the most recent figures.
15. University of Melbourne: 85.2 — Melbourne's main university is officially the best place in Australia, and indeed the whole of the southern hemisphere, to study for a degree in business and management.
14. HEC Paris School of Management: 86.3 — HEC is dedicated to teaching subjects around business, management, and finance, and that specialism tells. However, the university has slipped one place from 2015's ranking, when it ranked 13th.
13. Copenhagen Business School: 87.3 — Denmark's most prestigious business school has slipped in this year's QS ranking of the best universities for business and management degrees. Last year, it ranked 10th.
12. National University of Singapore: 87.7 — The highest rated university based solely in Asia, students of business and management at NUS can expect a good job after graduating. Its reputation amongst employers is sky high, according to QS.
11. University of California, Berkeley: 88.4 — Cal Berkeley's high scores in virtually every category when its comes to its business and management degree make it the second best business school on the west coast of the USA.
10. Universita Commerciale Luigi Bocconi: 88.6 — Bocconi, based in Milan, Italy provides the second best business and management degree programmes of any university in a non-English speaking country. Unfortunately, it has slipped since 2015's ranking, when it was 7th.
9. London School of Economics and Political Science: 90.7 — LSE, right in the heart of London, is the lowest ranked school to score above 90 overall. It scored particularly highly when it comes to academic reputation, and its reputation with employers.
8. University of Oxford: 91.5 — Oxford is probably most famous for its degrees in subjects like classics, history, and languages, but the university's Said Business School provides some of the best business and management degrees in the world.
7. University of Cambridge: 91.7 — Cambridge wins the Oxbridge battle when it comes to business and management, ranking one place ahead of its fierce rival. The university teaches these degrees in the Judge Business School, and has jumped from 13th in last year's ranking.
6. Massachusetts Institute of Technology: 92.0 — MIT is most famous for offering degrees in subjects like physics and astrophysics, where it ranks highest in QS' rankings. However, its business and management degree isn't too shabby either, rating 6th, the same position as last year.
5. University of Pennsylvania: 92.1 — Penn isn't the most famous of the Ivy League colleges, but it does offer one of the best business and management degrees. The university's Wharton School boasts former students like Warren Buffett (who dropped out before completing his degree) and US presidential hopeful Donald Trump.
4. Stanford University: 92.6 — Stanford's Graduate School of Business is one of the most prestigious institutions in America, and that prestige filters through to all of the university's business and management degrees. Stanford scored well across the board, but scored highest in the number of H-index citations it receives.
3. INSEAD: 94.3 — INSEAD keeps its place as the best university in a non-English speaking country to study business and management. The Paris based university focuses solely on postgraduate business degrees such as MBAs.
2. London Business School: 95.0 — Last year the London Business School topped QS' rankings in 2015, but is knocked off its perch this year. That's despite an academic reputation score of 100, and an employer reputation of 93.
1. Harvard University: 97.0 — It's no surprise that the world's most prestigious university also offers the world's best degrees in business and management. Harvard's business and management degrees scored 94.7 or over in every single category tracked by QS. Alumni of the university's business school include Mike Bloomberg, JP Morgan CEO Jamie Dimon, and former president George W. Bush.
