Morgan Stanley honored its 2023 summer analysts by broadcasting their faces and names in Times Square — but some commenters on TikTok were horrified by the public congratulations, calling it a "worst nightmare" to be on display in the tourist hotspot.
The investment bank beamed the headshots of its newest summer analysts on the screens at their Times Square headquarters, sharing their full names around the building's video boards.
"This week, we welcomed over 1,000 Analysts and Associates in North America as part of our intern class of 2023," Morgan Stanley wrote on its LinkedIn page. "We celebrated their arrival with a tribute in Times Square and an unforgettable experience on the historic Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum."
"We look forward to seeing just how high our interns soar this summer and beyond," the finance giant wrote.
TikTok user Benton McClintock spotted the videos, and suggested in a post that the crop of analysts would be a good place to look to find a date.
"Go to Times Square," McClintock says in his video, "so you can source through prospective new spouses who will probably be breadwinners in their future working at Morgan Stanley."
But some users were less concerned about their romantic prospects and more mortified that the interns had their faces shown on a big screen in Times Square.
"No cuz this is a hate crime in my book," one user commented.
"If I found out my company was broadcasting me like that I would release another swarm of bees in Times Square," another said.
"FULL NAME IS CRAZY," one user wrote.
While most reactions were jokes about being embarrassed by the public call-out, some raised concerns that the information could be used by stalkers.
"I hope the interns knew about this and gave their consent cuz imagine everyone knowing ur name and where u work," user shyguylene said. "Also what if ur photo was bad..."
Morgan Stanley didn't immediately respond to Insider's requests for comment.
