TwitterDr. David Dao.The head of security at Chicago's O'Hare International and Midway Airports has been fired.

On Friday, the Chicago Department of Aviation confirmed that airport security chief Jeffrey Redding has been relieved of his duties effective Thursday, April 27.

The City of Chicago declined to comment on the cause of Redding's termination.

However, the firing comes just weeks after three of the department's security officers violently removed Dr. David Dao from United Airlines Flight 3411.

Disturbing cellphone footage of the incident led to an immediate public backlash and the suspension of the officers involved.

As a result of the incident, United announced it will no longer involve law enforcement officers for issues not concerning the safety and security of a flight.

On Thursday, United Airlines reached an out-of-court settlement with Dr. Dao for an unspecified amount.
