Facebook's Desktop Business Is In Decline

Facebook just released its first quarter earnings. The company beat on revenue, but the numbers show that its desktop business is stagnant, if not declining.

All of Facebook's growth is currently coming from mobile, as clearly shown in this chart by analyst Ian Maude:

Desktop revenue was up barely on an annual basis but is a dramatically declining portion of Facebook's entire business. It's basically flat - and there are no signs of recovery.

Maude attributes the mobile revenue growth to mobile app install ads.

This second chart, which shows Facebook usage on desktop versus mobile, also shows that Facebook's desktop usage has gone nowhere in the last quarter.

This chart (above) shows desktop usage has never gone above its 2012 peak.

Maude's chart of the average revenue per user also shows that overall growth is declining, along with PC revenue (even taking into account the expected seasonal dip):
