Twitter considers India as an important market and is taking up several initiatives to connect lives, conversations, boost businesses and provide platforms to build innovations.

One of the initiatives that Twitter has taken up is ‘Fabric’, which was launched in 2014, to provide all kinds of assistance to app developers to create some world-class apps to boost businesses and also monitor the stability.

“India’s diverse demographics have enabled the discovery of hyperlocal delivery apps by young Indian startups that are serving the growing needs of consumers. The platform ‘Fabric’ has garnered a developer base of 225000 with its unique one-stop solution,” Twitter’s developer platform global head Rich Paret told Business Insider at SURGE in Bengaluru.

Paret said over 60 per cent of Indian startups are focused on digital solutions, with a large base offering consumer and enterprise apps across categories.

Taking Twitter’s relationship to another level, the first of its kind #HelloWorld global developer tour is coming to India this April in Bengaluru. These events will focus on several aspects of the Twitter platform, including Fabric for mobile development, Gnip for data analysis, and the public Twitter APIs.

“The Indian market is the second largest android developer market in the world and it will grow two times in two years,” he added.
Meanwhile, Paret said Twitter is also helping several initiatives in connecting with the world and boosting businesses, especially under ‘Make in India’.

“The thing that is exciting to me when I came here is the ‘Make in India’ initiative. And with all these people trying to build apps, we come in and provide tremendous assistance. This has provided immense opportunities for developers,” said Paret.

Top apps that use Fabric in India include Times of India, NDTV, Cricbuzz, Hungama, Snapdeal, Zomato, Saavn, Paytm, Mobikwik, ICICI.
