Even a pro-skateboarder finds it nearly impossible to ride Lexus' hoverboard as he keeps falling over in this video

When Lexus announced it had made a hoverboard, techies, futurists and "Back To The Future" fans rejoiced.

Now, Lexus has released a video showing us the hoverboard in action. It looks pretty awesome as it glides seamlessly through the bowls and halfpipes of the custom-made skate park. However, even in the hands of international pro-skateboard star Ross McGouran, the device looks almost impossible to actually ride.

McGouran even said in a video released by the Japanese automaker that it feels like he's "literally starting all over again from the beginning."

In the video, the pro-skater can be seen trying to pull off tricks that would normally be impossible on a wheeled board - such as boarding on water - and then falling over.

Lexus says the board uses magnetic levitation to stay above ground, relying on the 200 metres of magnetic track shown in the video to work with the liquid-nitrogen cooled semi-conductors to keep the board afloat. Unfortunately, this means the hoverboard requires a hover park to go with it and can't be used at any old skate park.

According to Tech Insider, the board can only last up to 20 minutes at a time, so expect a short visit to the one skate park where it can actually be used.

It's not just the professional skateboarder who has difficulty mastering the board either. Other members of the crew can be seen making failed attempts to ride the device as well.

As spectacular as it is, even the finale stunt of the video, which shows McGouran riding the gap between two ramps while jumping over a Lexus, ends in a fall.

If the video of a pro-skateboarder repeatedly falling over hasn't put you off, you still won't be able to get one as Lexus has no plans to make these boards commercially available. It looks like you'll have to stick to your trusty, wheeled skateboard and just use your imagination.
