The INSIDER Summary:

• "Westworld" star Evan Rachel Wood rocked a pantsuit on the Golden Globe's red carpet.
• She said it was a "gentle reminder for young women that dresses are great [...] but they aren't a requirement."

The stars of Hollywood came out dressed to impress for the 74th Annual Golden Globes, and "Westworld" actress Evan Rachel Wood was no exception.

Wood made an entrance on the red carpet in a classy black and white Altuzarra suit. And, as she explained to ET's Nancy O'Dell during the pre-show, the choice to skip a beaded ballgown is part of an ongoing fashion statement.

"I actually decided this year that I wasn't gonna wear any dresses to any of the award shows," Wood said. "This is my sixth time to the Golden Globes, and my third nomination. I've worn a dress every time, and I just wanted to be a gentle reminder for young women, dresses are great, I'm not protesting them or anything, but they aren't a requirement."

Wood expanded on her mission to make sure people know that dresses are fine - as long as that's what YOU want to wear.

"If you don't wanna wear a dress, you don't have to," Wood said. "Your worth is more than that. So just be yourself. It felt important to do that this year."

The actress' fashion move from dresses to pants mirrors her "Westworld" character's journey. While Dolores began the season wearing a memorable blue dress, she eventually swapped the skirt for a more practical pair of pants as she began breaking out of her programming.

Wood is nominated for a best actress Golden Globe for her role of Dolores in "Westworld." Her co-star Thandie Newton (who played Maeve) was also nominated as supporting actress, while "Westworld" is up for best TV series in the drama category.
