ESPN NBA analyst Mark Jackson took a vicious shot at a former coaching colleague while discussing the D'Angelo Russell controversy
Jackson added another to his list during the Rockets-Thunder game on Sunday, when he took a vicious shot at his former coaching colleague while discussing the D'Angelo Russell controversy.
Russell, of course, landed in hot water last week when it was revealed that he had secretly filmed teammate Nick Young, who's engaged to Iggy Azalea, talking about other women. The video leaked, causing controversy in the Lakers locker room and the NBA in general.
During the broadcast, after fellow analyst Jeff Van Gundy said he thinks Russell should have been suspended by the Lakers, Jackson threw in a quick jab, saying (via SB Nation), "The good news for [Russell] is that he could very well one day be an associate head coach in this league."
The comment was a not-so-subtle shot at Darren Erman, who served as an assistant coach under Jackson with the Warriors. Erman was fired during the 2013-14 season, and it was later revealed he was secretly recording conversations between coaches and players. It's unclear why Erman was recording the conversations, but the people he recorded reportedly had no knowledge of what Erman was doing.
Van Gundy immediately recognized the shot, saying "Oh, there we go! Shots fired!"
Jackson, who was fired by the Warriors for his own share of questionable decisions, hasn't landed a head-coaching job since being fired. Erman was soon hired by the Celtics as director of scouting shortly after.
