In one of the most high-profile cases in Bollywood, Sanjay Dutt was sentenced to 5 years in prison in 2013 for illegal possession of firearms related to the 1993 Mumbai blasts case. He was released in 2016 after serving his sentence.

Salman Khan has been involved in several cases. In 2002, he was arrested for a hit-and-run case where he was accused of driving over five people sleeping on a pavement, killing one. He was acquitted in 2015. In 2018, he was sentenced to 5 years in prison for killing two blackbucks in 1998 but was granted bail shortly after.

Raj Kundra, an actor, businessman and the husband of Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, was in legal trouble and spent time in jail for a case involving the production and distribution of adult content.

Rhea Chakraborty spent nearly six weeks in Byculla Jail in 2020 after Sushant Singh Rajput's family accused her of abetment to suicide. She was also arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in September 2020.
