This free browser game is a hilarious satire of the EpiPen controversy
The goal here is to jack the price of the EpiPen as high as we can without angering either investors or customers too much. Just like real life!
On the left side of the screen, you see the outrage meter, which fills in either direction based on the price, which you raise or lower with the arrow keys. On the right side, you see your corporate headquarters evolve over time and you get warnings about certain dangerous situations.
At first, I tried to bring about a socialist paradise by reducing the price of the EpiPen to $0. This meant I was bringing in no money and my investors were none too pleased.
That approach went poorly for me. But, as you can see, the only real consequence I suffered was losing my job but still being noteworthy enough to find another lucrative career.
After that, I decided to play the game the way it was meant to be played. I steadily increased the price of the EpiPen to please investors while occasionally reducing it when customers became too angry with me. My salary skyrocketed.
Occasionally, when things get rough, the game throws a bone your way in the form of a one-time-use item that will significantly reduce your meter buildup. From "Celebrity Endorsement" to "Blame Obamacare," they're all as topical and goofy as you'd expect.
Eventually, I jacked up the price of the EpiPen too much and had to resign. As you can see, "EpiPen Tycoon" takes a fairly cynical approach to either of its possible endings. It's a decently effective piece of satire.
