These 11 rising stars are auditioning to be the next Han Solo - what you need to know about them

Rami Malek, 34, is one of the many vying to be the next young Han Solo on film.

Malek had a breakout year in 2015. He earned rave reviews as eccentric hacker Elliot in the USA drama "Mr. Robot."

Dave Franco is the younger brother of actor James Franco.

Franco had bit roles in comedies for years before really getting noticed in the 2014 hit "Neighbors."

Twenty-eight-year-old Miles Teller's young career has been a mix of big blockbusters and smaller indies.

Teller earned praise for "The Spectacular Now," but it wasn't until his performance as a determined drummer opposite J.K. Simmons in the Oscar-winning "Whiplash" that he really grabbed Hollywood's attention.

With his audition for Solo, 21-year-old Ansel Elgort looks to break from young-adult entertainment into the blockbuster leagues.

Every teenager had to learn how to pronounce Elgort's name after his performance as Augustus Waters in "The Fault in Our Stars" in 2014.

Lucasfilm looked beyond just Americans for Han Solo. British actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson was one of the contenders.

Taylor-Johnson was already familiar to Disney: He played Quicksilver in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

Taylor-Johnson first gained mainstream attention after playing an atypical superhero in 2010's "Kick-Ass."

Fellow British actor Ed Westwick also auditioned for Han Solo.

Westwick played Chuck Bass in the hit series "Gossip Girl." The show ran on the CW from 2007 to 2012.

Canadian actor Landon Liboiron also tried out.

Liboiron might be best known to American audiences for playing Declan Coyne on "Degrassi: The Next Generation."

Twenty-year-old Nick Robinson has quickly made the leap from indie to big budget. He led the way in 2013's "The Kings of Summer."

In 2015, he starred in "Jurassic World," which would go on to gross $1.7 billion worldwide.

Tom Felton, 28, already had a prominent role in a gigantic franchise.

He played Slytherin member Draco Malfoy in the "Harry Potter" movies.

Another British actor, Joshua Sasse, also tried out for the role.

Sasse is currently the star of the ABC series "Galavant."

You may not recognize Logan Lerman, but he's quickly coming up in Hollywood.

He first made an impression in 2012 for his dramatic performance as Charlie in the big-screen adaptation of "The Perks of Being a Wallflower."

Meanwhile, the rest of the list remains a mystery. Thankfully, you can watch Harrison Ford play Han Solo once again in "The Force Awakens" on December 18.
