'Pokemon GO' just got its first major update - here's what's new

Tracking Pokémon is even harder than before.

And services like PokéVision, which enabled third-party tracking of Pokémon, were sent cease-and-desist letters by The Pokémon Company. Fearing litigation, these services have shut down en masse.

The Battery Saver mode in settings is gone (but only on iOS).

You can now customize your Trainer avatar beyond the customization you're able to do when you first start the game.

Warnings about paying attention to the world around you are much more persistent, and now require you to select OK before playing the game.

Throwing Pokéballs and capturing Pokémon is seemingly smoother than before.

And when a Pokémon breaks out of a ball you captured it in, the game now shows you this hilarious message:

Transferring Pokémon requires less scrolling, but one more tap than before.
