If Filmfare Awards are India’s Oscars, Salman Khan is our Leonardo DiCaprio, know how!

For his dual role as Karan Singh and his reincarnation Ajay, Salman was nominated once again for the prestigious award, but fell short to Shah Rukh Khan, who won the award for Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. Interestingly, Shah Rukh played Salman’s brother in Karan Arjun, and was considered the second lead.

For his role as the carefree Suraj Khanna in his brother Sohail’s maiden production, Salman was nominated. However, he again lost out to Shah Rukh Khan, who won the Best Actor award for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. In a surprising twist, this time it was Salman who played second lead in KKHH, and thankfully, won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor.

One of Salman’s best movies, this one almost had it coming. After all, who didn’t like the Italy-returned Sameer from the Sanjay Leela Bhansali movie? However, the jury chose Sanjay Dutt for his role in Vaastav: The Reality. Twice in two years, ouch!

The role that Khan played in this romantic tragedy was very different from his earlier movies, and he did manage to win hearts for his role as the college rowdy Radhe Mohan who falls in love with a simple girl Nirjara only to be separated by fate. However, Hrithik Roshan’s role as the ‘developmentally challenged’ Rohit Mehra in Koi... Mil Gaya won more hearts.

By now, Salman Khan had established himself as a bankable actor, and one of India’s favourites, awards or no awards. However, losing out to fellow actor Shah Rukh Khan (for playing Rizwan Khan in My Name Is Khan) thrice would have definitely made him feel bad, we think.

Two nominations in two years, but losing to a comparatively young man Ranbir Kapoor for Rockstar isn’t something that Khan would have thoroughly enjoyed, and as we all know, this was not the only thing that went to Kapoor instead of Khan, if you know what we mean!

Three consecutive nominations must have given Khan enough joy to compensate for the fact that he again lost it to Kapoor, who won the award for playing the deaf and mute lover boy in Barfi!

This is considered to be one of the best movies that Khan has done in his career, and is definitely the one that has earned him the biggest moolah, but who can blame the jury for choosing Ranveer Singh for his role as the Maratha warrior Peshwa Bajirao in the historical fiction Bajirao Mastani?
