The anticipated "Snyder Cut" finally has a release date.

"Zack Snyder's Justice League," as it's officially called, will premiere March 18 on HBO Max in the US, the streamer announced on Friday. It will also be available to stream on HBO in Europe across the Nordic region, Central Europe, Spain, and Portugal, as well as on HBO Go in Asia territories where available.

Fans urged the studio Warner Bros. to release the "Snyder Cut" of "Justice League" after the theatrical cut disappointed critically and financially in 2017. The movie's director, Zack Snyder, exited late into production and "Avengers" director Joss Whedon was brought in to finish the movie with significant reshoots.

Fans claimed that Whedon's version was a far cry from Snyder's original vision. After three years of fans advocating for the release of Snyder's version, HBO Max announced last year that it would be coming in 2021.

Early reports indicated that the movie could be released in four parts as a miniseries, but Max's announcement makes clear that it's a "full-length feature film."

The Hollywood Reporter reported in May that finishing Snyder's product could cost between $20 million and $30 million, though The Wrap reported in September it could cost closer to $70 million.

"Zack Snyder's Justice League" is just one major DC Comics project Max has in the works. The streamer is developing spinoffs of upcoming movies, including "Peacemaker" starring John Cena spinning out of "The Suicide Squad," and a series about the Gotham City Police Department from Robert Pattinson's "The Batman."

It's also developing high-profile original DC series like "Green Lantern" and a Justice League Dark show from J.J. Abrams, as well as new seasons of former DC Universe originals like "Doom Patrol" and "Titans."

Kevin Reilly, the former HBO Max creative chief, told Insider in May that fans "can expect the highest level of cinematic production values" from the DC shows.
