YouTube vlogger Olivia Jade Giannulli appeared to make reference her parents' incarceration in her latest video, comparing her kitchen to a prison.
Olivia Jade, as she is known professionally, is the daughter of "Full House" actor Lori Loughlin and fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, who were both implicated in the college admissions scandal in 2020. The lifestyle vlogger has 1.79 million YouTube subscribers where she often posts "week in my life" vlogs, sharing updates and insights into her luxurious lifestyle as an influencer.
In a January 16 vlog, Olivia Jade shared a clip of herself making breakfast in her kitchen and said she had ordered wallpaper for the room in the hope of transforming its appearance.
Then she appeared to reference her parents' time in prison, saying: "It's not going to feel so sterile. It's not going to feel like a prison. Save the jokes. Don't want to hear it. I set you up, and I don't want you to tee off, OK?"
Olivia Jade's parents both pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud charges in 2020 after being accused of paying $500,000 to get Olivia Jade and her sister Isabella into the University of Southern California. Loughlin served two months in prison and Giannulli was sentenced to five months in prison but was released early and allowed to serve a portion of his sentence at home, BI previously reported.
Olivia Jade's YouTube career took a hit in the wake of the scandal. BI previously reported that she was dropped by several brands and stopped posting on social media when the headlines about her parents first emerged in 2019.
In 2020, she addressed the controversy in an episode of "Red Table Talk," saying that she initially didn't realize why her family was being criticized so harshly but that she's since learned lessons about her position of privilege and now understands why people are angry.
"I sit here now and I'm like, how don't you realize stuff like that. That's embarrassing that that did fly over your head," she said.
In 2021, BI reported that Olivia Jade was rebuilding her social media presence, working with brands and posting regularly on YouTube once again.
