You can get paid $2,000 to watch the 2023 Emmy Awards. Here's how.
  • InfinityDish is awarding one lucky American $2,023 to watch the Emmy Awards broadcast in September.
  • The winner will also receive a $50 GrubHub gift card, popcorn, a red carpet, and an Emmy statue replica.

One lucky TV lover will get paid more than $2,000 to tune into television's biggest award show.

InfinityDish, an authorized retailer of American TV provider Dish Network, is giving one American $2,023 — equivalent to $673.33 an hour — to watch the three-hour long 75th annual Emmy Awards broadcast when it airs live on September 18, the company announced.

The winner will also receive an "Emmy care package" that InfinityDish said includes a $50 GrubHub gift card, 6 boxes of microwave popcorn, a personal red carpet, and a replica of an Emmy statue. The entire prize is worth $2,279, the company said.

InfinityDish opened its 2023 Emmy contest application to TV buffs in late July. US residents authorized to work in the country and over the age 18 are eligible to apply.

The contest requires applicants to submit a 100-word statement on "why you're the perfect person to get paid to watch the Emmys live." InfinityDish said applications will be judged based on the creativity of the response and that applicants are not required to be Dish customers.

The winner will be notified by email on September 4, the company said, though it noted that the date of the Emmy Awards may change due to the writers' strike.

The contest could, in part, be a way for InfinityDish to promote its TV services as consumers cut satellite and cable services, and turn to streaming platforms like Youtube TV and Hulu+ Live TV to watch live television. In the first quarter of this year, Dish Network had a net loss of 552,000 pay-TV subscribers.

The Television Academy announced the 2023 Emmy nominees earlier this month, with HBO's "Succession," "The White Lotus," and "The Last of Us" dominating.

InfinityDish didn't respond to Insider's immediate request for comment before publication.
