"The White Lotus" star Tom Hollander says he mistakenly got sent an "Avengers" paycheck meant for Tom Holland when they were signed to the same talent agency.

Although the British actors share a similar name, they couldn't be more different. Hollander is best known for his roles in "Pride & Prejudice," Emmy award-winning thriller "The Night Manager," and of course, "The White Lotus." Holland, meanwhile, is best known as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

On Monday's episode of "Late Night with Seth Meyers," Hollander said that people often get the pair mixed up, and he's been introduced to people expecting to meet Spider-Man.

Hollander said that even his own talent agency confused him for Holland.

"People in the accounts department of my agency got confused. We were with the same agency, briefly," the actor said.

Hollander said the mishap happened while he was watching a friend perform a Chekhov play.

"I sat smugly in the audience having just done a BBC show for 30 grand or something, which was going to get me through the next year or so," he said.

The actor said that he checked his email during the interval and discovered the mixup.

"I got an email from the agency saying, 'Payment advice slip: your first box office bonus for "The Avengers,"'" Hollander said.

"And I thought, 'I don't think I'm in "The Avengers."' It was an astonishing amount of money," he added.

The British star said he was further stunned that the check wasn't even for Holland's negotiated salary — but a bonus payment based on the movie's success.

"It was not his salary, it was his first box office bonus. Not the whole box office, the first one," said Hollander. "It was more money than I've ever… It was a 7-figure sum. He was 20 or something."

"So my feeling of smugness disappeared very quickly. But that's showbiz," Hollander added.
