- "Bridgerton" season three, part one is out now on Netflix.
- Fans who binged the new episodes have to wait a month for the rest of the season.
"Bridgerton" season three, part one ends on a spectacular cliffhanger, but fans have to wait almost a month for the conclusion to Penelope and Colin's love story.
The highly anticipated season premiered on Netflix last week with four new episodes. In the new season, longtime friends Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) are the lead couple as their relationship is taken to new heights.
Only four episodes are available for the season. This is because Netflix is splitting the release of a "Bridgerton" into two, the first time it's done that.
Netflix has been experimenting with chopping up its major shows into multiple releases. It hasn't explained why — but the approach does seem to have stretched the shelf-lives of the shows, keeping fans buzzing about series like "Stranger Things" season four and "You" season four for months rather than weeks.
"Bridgerton" season three, part two premieres on June 13 at midnight PT. Here's what to know about the remaining episodes.
Warning: Spoilers ahead for "Bridgerton" season three, part one, as well as the source novels "When He Was Wicked" and "Romancing Mr. Bridgerton."
The final four episodes of "Bridgerton" season three are out in mid-June
Netflix has released the titles for the remaining four episodes of "Bridgerton" season three.
Episode 5 — "Tick Tock"
Episode 6 — "Romancing Mister Bridgerton"
Episode 7 — "Joining of Hands"
Episode 8 — "Into the Light"
"Romancing Mr. Bridgerton" is a reference to one of Julia Quinn's source novels for the series. It may give a clue about what will happen.
When we left the leading couple in episode four, Colin had just proposed to Penelope after a steamy makeout session in the back of a carriage.
In the book, Colin makes a similar proposal after finding out that Penelope is the scandalous gossip writer Lady Whistledown.
TV Colin has yet to make this discovery, which could mean he will find out in part two. That revelation will likely hurt Colin and Penelope's relationship since he doesn't like how Lady Whistledown damaged the reputations of his friends and family.
The other budding relationships in season three — Francesca Bridgerton (Hannah Dodd) and John Stirling (Victor Alli) and Cressida Cowper (Jessica Madsen) and Lord Debling (Sam Phillips) — don't feature in the novel.
However, book fans will know that John Stirling is Francesca Bridgerton's first husband from part of the narrative that hasn't been in the show yet.
It may mean that another Bridgerton could be walking down the aisle this season.
Fans will have to wait until Netflix releases a teaser for part two to work out what is in store for the final episodes.
