For a few minutes on Thursday, Bob Iger was a weatherman once again.

Iger, who served as Disney's CEO until February 2020, visited KABC, the Los Angeles ABC affiliate station, on Thursday morning for a studio interview ahead of his retirement as board chairman at the end of this year.

Iger had been Disney's CEO since 2005, but he's been with Disney since the mid-1990s and he began his career in 1973 doing the weather at an ABC station in Ithaca, New York, according to The New York Times. So when he visited KABC this week, it was only fitting that he get in front of the greenscreen.

"I have not done the weather in 48 years," Iger said when asked to deliver the weather by KABC meteorologist Leslie Lopez.

Nonetheless, Iger gamely delivered the report, warning Angelenos that rain and cool temperatures were heading their way.

"Very nippy on Saturday morning by the way, 62 degrees in the Los Angeles area," Iger said. "And then the rain coming in, heavy rain at times, on Monday into Tuesday with the possibility of some flooding."

He added that the beaches near where he lives should expect some "early morning frost," which Iger said might disrupt his usual early morning bike ride.

"I started as a weatherman when I was 23 years old, so the possibility exists that you could become CEO of the Walt Disney Company," he said after wrapping up the report.

Iger's contract with Disney expires on December 31, and he told KABC that he's "looking forward to what comes next, although I'm not 100% sure what that is. But I haven't had a day off since 8th grade."

He was succeeded as CEO last year by Bob Chapek, previously Disney's parks, experiences, and products chairman, but Iger said at the time he would stick around to lead the company's "creative endeavors." Insider's Claire Atkinson reported in July of tension between Chapek and Iger, the latter of whom had stepped in more frequently during the pandemic.
