Vince McMahon's daughter, Stephanie McMahon, resigned as WWE co-CEO after father's return to the company

More leadership shakeups are happening at WWE amid founder Vince McMahon's return and a possible sale of the company.

WWE announced on Tuesday that Stephanie McMahon, Vince's daughter, resigned from her role as co-CEO and chairwoman. Nick Khan was named CEO.

"I cannot put into words how proud I am to have helped lead what I consider to be the greatest company in the world and I am confident WWE is in the perfect position to continue to provide unparalleled creative content and drive maximum value for shareholders," she said in a statement.

Stephanie McMahon had taken a leave of absence from her role as brand chief in May 2022, saying she wanted to focus on her family. But she returned in July as co-CEO after her father's retirement.

Vince McMahon returned to the WWE board last week, less than six months after retiring amid sexual misconduct allegations made against him and a board investigation into hush payments made to women. He was named executive chairman of the board on Tuesday.

Last year, the board began investigating millions of dollars McMahon had paid several women who had made misconduct allegations against him. Most recently, The Wall Street Journal reported a new allegation from a former spa manager who claimed McMahon assaulted her.

McMahon has previously denied sexual harassment or abuse allegations.

The company said last week it would "undertake a review of its strategic alternatives," essentially meaning that it is exploring a potential sale.
