Tom Cruise sent Timothée Chalamet an email that was essentially a how-to guide for becoming a leading man
- Timothée Chalamet revealed in a new interview that Tom Cruise emailed him after they first met.
- According to Chalamet, the email included contact information for stunt trainers in Hollywood.
Timothée Chalamet shared in a new interview with GQ that he once got some helpful advice on how to be a leading man from fellow A-lister Tom Cruise.
According to Chalamet, he and Cruise first met after Chalamet had wrapped the first "Dune" film.
"He sent me the most wonderfully inspiring email," Chalamet told GQ of Cruise. He added that the email contained contact information for a variety of stunt experts, including a motorcycle and helicopter coach.
"He basically said, in Old Hollywood, you would be getting dance training and fight training, and nobody is going to hold you to that standard today. So it's up to you," the "Wonka" actor said of his email from Cruise, which he referred to as a "war cry."
Chalamet went on to gush over Cruise's film "Top Gun: Maverick," saying he saw it eight times while filming the second "Dune" movie.
"'Top Gun' was just hugely inspiring to me last summer when we were making 'Dune,'" Chalamet told GQ.
The star was so taken with "Top Gun: Maverick" that he even bought out a theater in Budapest to show the film to the cast and crew of the second "Dune" movie. Despite some skepticism from the crew, Chalamet said the "Top Gun" film was one of the best he'd ever seen.
Chalamet stars as the title character in the musical film "Wonka," out in December, and will reprise his role as Paul Atreides in "Dune Part 2," which is now set to be released in March 2024.
