The first "Transformers" film was released 13 years ago, in July 2007. It became director Michael Bay's biggest franchise.
The film made over $700 million and went on to spawn four more sequels (2009's "Revenge of the Fallen," 2011's "Dark of the Moon," 2014's "Age of Extinction, and 2017's "The Last Knight"), as well as the 2018 prequel, "Bumblebee."
After the film, both Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox were catapulted to the A-list, though their careers have both had ups and downs since then.
As the "Transformers" films have become a punchline in recent history, it's easy to forget that the first one, released in 2007, was enjoyed by fans (while it only has a 58% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, audiences gave it an 85%). The story, based on the toys and '80s cartoon series, focuses on Sam Witwicky, a high school student whose car suddenly turns into a sentient alien robot named Bumblebee — things develop from there.
Soon Sam and his crush, Mikaela, are caught up in an epic alien war between Autobots and Decepticons, and a government secret agency and conspiracy spanning decades.
In honor of the film's 13th anniversary, here's what all the (live-action) stars of "Transformers" are up to today.
