- Dominic West played Prince Harry's father, Prince Charles (now King Charles III), in "The Crown."
- West became acquainted with Harry through a 2013 Antarctic expedition with injured veterans.
Actor Dominic West, who played Prince Charles in Netflix's "The Crown," revealed he'd once been acquainted with Prince Harry until he "said too much" at a press conference about a trip they took together.
In 2013, Harry and West participated in a 13-day charity expedition through Walking with the Wounded, joining injured veterans on a journey to the South Pole.
When asked by Times Radio if he talked to Harry about playing his father on "The Crown," West said they were no longer in touch.
"I said too much in a press conference, and so we didn't speak after that," he said in the interview, which was first shared by Times Radio earlier this month.
West didn't elaborate on exactly what he said that caused the falling-out, but he added that he'd been asked what the team did to celebrate reaching the end of their mission and "probably said something too much."
At a 2014 press conference discussing the expedition, West revealed they drank champagne out of one of the veteran's prosthetic legs upon reaching the South Pole, and that a few members of the team stripped naked in the remote area, E! News reported.
"Most of us, Harry included, just went on a two-day bender with the Icelandic truck drivers who had brought some lethal home brew with them," West said at the time. "There was a lot of liquor drunk."
West told reporters at the press conference about benefiting from Harry's latrine-building skills on the trip, quipping, "I'd be sitting there, looking at a beautiful view thinking, 'This is the royal flush!'"
He also revealed that Harry told "eye-wateringly rude jokes."
"For the non-soldier like me it was quite shocking," he said.
West played Prince Charles on seasons five and six of "The Crown." While he didn't speak to Harry about portraying the royal, he did research the role by spending time on Charles' estate in Cornwall, England.
