  • Hulu has a solid selection of crime-related series to stream.
  • Shows like "Disappeared" and "The Case that Haunts Me" focus on mostly-unsolved disappearances and criminal cases.
  • "The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over" and the "American Murder Mystery" series cover infamous serial killers.

Hulu has a robust selection of crime-related shows and documentaries to watch.

Ranging from profiles of serial killers like "The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over" to series like "Disappeared," which focuses on people who've mysteriously vanished, baffling friends, family, and coworkers.

And cases like those of JonBenét Ramsey, Casey Anthony, and Jodi Arias are all featured in the "American Murder Mystery" series, which takes an in-depth look at famous trials and investigations.

Here are some of the true-crime shows you can watch on Hulu right now.

"Children of the Snow" is about the murders of four children in 1970s Detroit.

Hulu description: "More than 40 years ago, four young people were kidnapped and murdered in the suburbs of Detroit. Children of the Snow explores these baffling, unsolved crimes which sparked one of the biggest manhunts in US history."

Why you should watch: The murder of four children in Oakland County, Michigan, in the 1970s rocked Detroit and the surrounding community. Recent theories suggest a crime ring (one responsible for keeping children as sex slaves on a remote island) could have had something to do with the killing as well.

This two-part documentary shines a light on the tragic deaths of Mark Stebbins, Jill Robinson, Kristine Mihelich, and Timmy King while also investigating the gruesome potential motives for their murders.

"Hunting JonBenét's Killer: The Untold Story" tries to solve the decades-old murder.

Hulu description: "Elizabeth Vargas takes a fresh look at the most notorious cold case murder in American history by tracking down new leads with new DNA tests."

Why you should watch: Followers of the JonBenét case know that it's taken numerous twists and turns throughout the years, with members of her immediate family being cleared, somewhat controversially, via DNA testing in 2008.

This documentary introduces a potential new lead into the case, and while it doesn't exactly solve the decades-old murder, it still presents an intriguing possibility.

Hulu description: "The series examines each piece of forensic evidence, each witness, each possible lead, and each turn in the road that ultimately leads detectives to their killer. Cold Case Files is a pioneer in the nonfiction forensics genre."

Why you should watch: A reboot of the classic late '90s crime show, the new "Cold Case Files" examines murders and disappearances much like its predecessor, only with better reporting and special effects.

The show gives forensic technology and experts a chance to shine and is a must-watch.

"Disappeared" highlights unsolved missing person cases.

Hulu description: "Each story traces the time immediately before the individual vanished for clues about the disappearance. Often hidden beneath seemingly everyday behavior and actions are hints about what may have driven someone to voluntarily vanish or evidence of foul play."

Why you should watch: Each episode of "Disappeared" profiles one mysterious disappearance, which is often still unsolved despite decades of investigation.

Watching distraught friends and family members discuss the possible fate of their loved one isn't easy, but the show does a good job of highlighting the various issues those left behind can face in their search for answers.

Hulu description: "The Case That Haunts Me takes sweeping true crime stories told directly from the detectives who led each case. From mysterious vanishings to twisted family murders, these are the unforgettable cases that disrupt law and order, and keep authorities up at night."

Why you should watch: If you're put off by re-enactments, you might want to skip "The Case That Haunts Me." Each episode features detectives recalling the most infamous cases they've worked on along with actors recreating certain scenes.

"The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over" covers one of California's most infamous serial killers.

Hulu description: "The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over traces a serial killer that raped over fifty women and killed ten people. Over the years he traveled through Northern and Southern California as he escalated his crimes. We hear from survivors, friends and family of the murder victims, and detectives as they work the case."

Why you should watch: The focus of an upcoming HBO documentary series, the elusive Golden State Killer baffled law enforcement in northern California for decades, despite consistent attacks on women and couples.

It's impossible to cram all the pertinent information about the investigation into one series, but "The Golden State Killer: It's Not Over" does a pretty good job — and is the perfect preparation for HBO's series that premieres at the end of June.

Why you should watch: All of the installments in the "American Murder Mystery" series are worth watching, but those focusing on the deaths of JonBenét Ramsey and Chandra Levy are particularly chilling.

The series also includes installments that focus on murders allegedly committed by women, including Jodi Arias, Pamela Smart, and Casey Anthony.
