Taylor Lautner says he did a backflip during his Taylor Swift's Eras Tour entrance because he blacked out with nerves
- Taylor Lautner did a backflip during his appearance on the Eras Tour in July.
- He told Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday that he did the flip because he blacked out with nerves.
When Taylor Lautner joined Taylor Swift onstage for a performance during her Eras Tour earlier this year, he did a roundoff into a backflip for his entrance — and now he says he did the gymnastics move because he was nervous.
"I do this weird thing, and it doesn't make sense, so forgive me," Lautner said during an appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" on Tuesday. "But when I freak out, and I'm really nervous, and I black out, I just go straight to backflip."
"So I stepped out of this door, and I saw this walkway, and it was like 60 yards down the field. And I'm like, 'I have to walk down this whole thing? This is going to be so uncomfortable.' And I was like, 'Just backflip, and I'll take up the space, and it'll be over,'" he added.
He told Fallon that his entrance was "so ridiculous."
Lautner, who briefly dated Swift in 2009, was part of the pop star's music video for her song "I Can See You (Taylor's Version)," alongside Joey King and Presley Cash. The three joined Swift during her Eras Tour performance in Kansas City, Missouri, on July 7.
During the tour appearance, Swift called Lautner and his wife, also named Taylor Lautner, her "close friends."
Lautner's onstage backflip wasn't his last on the Eras Tour. He also did several at a screening of the "Eras Tour" film earlier this month.
