Selena Gomez took her fans by surprise when she appeared to confirm that she is in a relationship with music producer Benny Blanco this week.

After the Instagram account PopFactions shared a post about the rumored new couple on Monday featuring a headline that read, "Selena Gomez Seemingly Confirms That She Is in a Relationship," Gomez simply commented: "Facts."

The "Only Murders in the Building" star then went on a social media spree, replying to comments on the post and revealing details about their relationship. In one comment, Gomez said she and Blanco have been seeing each other for six months. She later uploaded a photo of the two of them to her Instagram Stories.

In another, she addressed the fact that Blanco aimed a thinly veiled insult at her in an interview three years ago while discussing his frequent collaborator and her ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber.

In response to a comment that read, "you're just corny omg that man was shading you years ago," Gomez wrote: "Lol yeah and he's still better than anyone I've ever been with. Facts."

In another comment, she stated that Blanco "has treated me better than any human being on this planet."

During an interview with Zach Sang, promoting their 2020 collaboration, "Lonely," Blanco critiqued "cookie-cutter pop stars" with makeup lines.

"Justin's not one of those cookie-cutter pop artists," he said. "Like you know, they're like, 'this is my new single and here's my makeup line.' And he's like, Justin's like, 'yo. I have a pimple and I have anxiety today.' He's always been upfront about that stuff."

"For me, I think he's really falling into himself as an adult now," he added. "It's brave to put this song out."

At the time, many of Gomez's fans believed his comment was a jab at her as she had recently released her own makeup line, Rare Beauty. Some noted that Gomez has been very open about her struggles with bipolar disorder, depression, and anxiety, which is precisely what Blanco appeared to praise Bieber for.

Despite his previous comments, Blanco attended Rare Beauty's charity benefit on October 4, which led to speculation that the pair were an item.

On a fan account's post that speculated that she was "trolling" fans by gushing about her new relationship so openly, Gomez doubled down.

"Never trolling. I'm leaving Insta for a while until I have work again. I just stand up for what I believe in I have no shame in doing that. I love my fans more than anything in the world," she wrote.
