Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, said Matthew Perry was a "natural talent" in a social media post on Sunday, where she shared photos of her time working with the late actor on "Friends."

Perry died at the age of 54 in his Los Angeles home on Saturday, TMZ initially reported. The Los Angeles Times reported that the actor was found unresponsive in his hot tub, adding that an official cause of death has not yet been released.

Perry was best known for playing Chandler Bing in the sitcom "Friends," which ran for 10 seasons between 1994 and 2004. He met Ferguson while filming the two-part season four finale in London in 1998, for which the royal made a brief appearance playing herself.

"I remember being thrilled to have met a natural talent, comedian and brilliant actor," Ferguson wrote on Instagram, alongside two behind-the-scenes photos with the "Friends" cast in London.

"It is a tragedy to lose you so early in life, rest in peace dear Matthew … you have given so much joy and laughter to so many," she added. Representatives for Ferguson could not be reached for comment.

In the "Friends" episode, titled "The One with Ross's Wedding: Part 1," Joey (Matt LeBlanc) bumps into Ferguson while trying to figure out how to get to Buckingham Palace. Upon Joey's request, Ferguson records a video message saying hello to Chandler, and commenting that Joey's Union Jack hat is "dashing."

Ferguson's decision to appear on the show was partly influenced by her daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who were said to be fans of the show, according to Kelsey Miller's 2019 book, "I'll Be There for You: The One about Friends," cited in a 2022 article by InStyle.

Other celebrities to pay tribute to Perry include Maggie Wheeler, Morgan Fairchild, and Paget Brewster, all of whom appeared on "Friends."

"He was lovely to me on Friends and every time I saw him in the decades after," Brewster wrote on X. "Please read his book. It was his legacy to help. He won't rest in peace though. He's already too busy making everyone laugh up there."
