  • Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan starrer Love Aaj Kal failed to woo audiences in metro cities. So far it earned ₹25.95 crore.
  • Love Aaj Kal 2 collected ₹12 crore on the day of release. It saw 40% decline in its collection on day two taking the total Saturday collections to ₹8 crore. On Sunday, it earned ₹6 crore.
  • Considering that Sara was trolled for her performance and the reviews were tepid, experts believe the film may make a business of only ₹40 crore overall.

Sara Ali Khan might be facing the toughest battle ever that a starkid would ever have to face. Her movie Love Aaj Kal 2 is a sequel to her father Saif Ali Khan’s superhit and so far, it looks like it may not match up.

It earned ₹25.95 crore for the first weekend which is ₹2 crore lower than what the original earned in its first weekend - 11 years back. Even when it is not an apples to oranges comparison, the sequel starring Karthik Aaryan and Randeep Huda, did not live up.

While Sara might not be able to replicate her father’s success of the past, her movie did much better than Saif Ali Khan’s latest release - Jawaani Janeman which earned ₹27.15 crores crore on the first weekend.

The prospects of Love Aaj Kal 2 are not too good, either. Considering that Sara was trolled for her performance and the reviews were tepid, experts believe the film may make a business of only ₹40 crore overall. Moreso, its collections are falling by the day.

Love Aaj Kal 2 collected ₹12 crore on the day of release. It saw 40% decline in its collection on day two taking the total Saturday collections to ₹8 crore. On Sunday, it earned ₹6 crore.

“The film could face a bloodbath over the weekdays considering this weekend trend and its just about how bad it will be as the film has no chance of survival. It goes without saying the buyers will lose huge amounts of money,” reported Box office India.

Love Aajkal explores how the concept of love changed between 1990 and 2020. It has two love stories — one set in Udaipur in the early 1990s and the other in modern day Delhi. It also features Randeep Hooda and debutante Arushi Sharma in key roles.

Karthik Aryan and Sara Ali Khan became the talk of the town ever since Khan revealed that she had a crush on Aryan on Koffee with Karan. Considering their chemistry, Sumit Kadel believed that the film may earn between ₹38 crore and ₹42 crore on its first weekend. Moreover, it could have stayed strong and made a business of ₹100 crore in its first week.

But both the critics and the public trolled the film on Twitter. Kadel said the film was a “cinematic catastrophe.” A lot of people have slammed Director Imitiaz Ali for telling the

"#LoveAajKal packs a solid total on Day 1... Got a boost due to #ValentinesDay2020... Metros are excellent, contribute to the big total... Tier-2 cities and mass belt ordinary/low... Will it collect in double digits on Day 2 and 3, is the big question... Fri ? 12.40 cr. #India biz," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.

In the meanwhile, Tanhaji which was released on January 10 is going strong at the box office and has collected ₹270 crore overall.
