Rebel Wilson is being transparent about regaining weight after her 2020 weight-loss journey, during which she lost nearly 80 pounds.

In a recent Instagram post, the "Pitch Perfect" actress shared a video of herself wearing a black swimsuit in a hot tub on a boat, as well as a caption explaining her conflicting feelings about regaining some of the weight she lost three years ago.

"Working really hard has meant that, coz of all the stress, I've gained 14kg's (30 pounds)! It makes me feel bad about myself…it shouldn't…but it does," Wilson wrote.

Wilson went on to attribute the weight gain to the work she's been doing on new movies and her memoir "Rebel Rising," which is slated to release on April 2.

"I'm really proud of the work I've been doing on new movies and my memoir, it's just been a LOT and I've lost focus on my healthy lifestyle," Wilson continued in the Instagram caption.

In 2020, the actress dropped 77 pounds through diet and exercise, TODAY reported in 2021.

Wilson has said she's largely been able to maintain her weight over the years, but regaining weight doesn't define her.

"It doesn't help to be hard on yourself but I know what it's like to feel guilty and not great after eating too much," she captioned a July 2022 Instagram photo of herself after she said she "put on" six pounds on vacation.

"But if you're like me just know YOU are more than just your weight, your weight doesn't define you, just try your best to be healthy and don't be so hard on yourself," she continued. "Be the best version of you."

Weight gain due to stress and anxiety is common, experts say

Business Insider previously reported that high stress levels are among the most common reasons for weight gain, especially when it comes to work-related stress, and that increased stress can also lead to eating unhealthy "comfort" foods.

On a medical level, a report published by the National Library of Medicine also claims that chronic stress can lead to high insulin levels and even insulin resistance, which can lead to increased abdominal fat and overall weight gain.
