- Ray Fisher reunited with "Justice League" director Zack Snyder for Netflix's upcoming "Rebel Moon."
- Fisher told Business Insider that working with Snyder again was like "coming home."
Over six years after Ray Fisher played Cyborg in "Justice League," the actor has reunited with the movie's original director Zack Snyder for Netflix's new sci-fi epic, "Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire."
The reunion marks a fresh start for Fisher, whose accusations of abusive on-set behavior against Snyder's "Justice League" replacement director, Joss Whedon, caused something of a firestorm at movie studio Warner Bros. a few years ago. (WB tapped Whedon to complete "Justice League" after Snyder departed the movie due to a family tragedy.)
Speaking to Business Insider at the London premiere of "Rebel Moon" Thursday night, Fisher said he was delighted to get the call from Snyder to appear in his latest movie.
"It feels great. It's like coming home," said the actor. "I mean, Zack's my brother at the end of the day. He could have said, 'Hey, look, I got a walk-on for you as a zombie somewhere.' I'd been like, 'Okay cool, sounds great!'"
Fisher added: "You know what to expect from the caliber of work that Zack Snyder puts out there, and this is humbling and exciting."
"Rebel Moon" is a space saga that follows Kora (played by Sofia Boutella), a former army soldier who mounts a revolution against the intergalactic empire that rules the universe with an iron fist.
Fisher and Boutella are joined in the movie by stars including Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounsou, Michiel Huisman, and Ed Skrein.
On set, Snyder had a custom-made gym built for the cast and crew, which encouraged a collaborative environment, according to Fisher.
"It was a good way for us to build some camaraderie because we're all in the gym together, right? I really just like working at achieving the common goal," said the actor. "And it was something that I think he smartly planned to help build the team outside of the gym as well as on the screen."
"Rebel Moon" marks Snyder's latest collaboration with Netflix, which is set to stream the movie from December 21, after the success of "Army of the Dead" in 2021.
"I finished 'Army of the Dead,' and they said, 'What do you want to do now?'" Snyder told Business Insider and other publications at Thursday's premiere. "And I was like, 'You know, I have this sci-fi epic kind of knocking around if you guys are interested.' And they were like, 'That sounds cool.'"
"They trusted me and they really cultivated our creative force, because the sheer will to make this thing was great," Snyder added. "You have to start from scratch. You have to create all these worlds and all this mythology, and it's been a labor of love."
"Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire" streams on Netflix from December 21.
