People are more interested in talking about Jeremy Allen White's underwear than his Golden Globe win
- Jeremy Allen White clinched his second Golden Globe for Best Male Actor yesterday.
- But media and fans have more to say about White's Calvin Klein ad than his impressive win.
Jeremy Allen White won his second Golden Globe on Sunday, but his award-winning role in "The Bear" was overshadowed by Calvin Klein underwear.
Three days before his win, the 32-year-old actor's Calvin Klein campaign launched. One of the campaign videos features him in a white tank top, walking on a street in New York City. It cuts to White running up to the roof of a building, where he strips down to a pair of white boxer briefs. The ad cuts out with him collapsed on a red velvet couch, the skyline serving as a backdrop.
White said in a press junket posted on Entertainment Tonight's YouTube channel on Sunday that shooting and subsequently watching his own Calvin Klein ad felt "bizarre."
A reporter from The Mirror asked White how surreal it was that people were talking more about his "underwear and six-pack" than his performance in the show.
"This is strange — I promise — um, uh, I don't know. It's been a weird couple of days," White responded.
Another reporter asked White what he was prouder of — winning a Golden Globe or having fans "losing their minds" over his half-naked ad.
"This is a prouder moment," White said, referencing his award.
Ayo Edebiri — White's costar in "The Bear" — took home the Golden Globe for Best Female Actor in the same series. In an interview with Access Hollywood after the awards, she was asked for her thoughts on White's campaign.
"I'm just happy for him. That's my boy," said Edebiri, who took home the award for her role as Sydney Adamu in "The Bear."
"I want people to understand he's my coworker," Edebiri added.
Many people took to X to congratulate White for his win and his Calvin Klein campaign alike.
"If I was in charge at this award show I would've had Jeremy Allen White's Calvin Klein campaign video playing on the screen during his speech," one person wrote in a post.
Another person wrote: "The Jeremy Allen White for Calvin Klein campaign pictures altered my brain chemistry."
Sunday night marked the second consecutive year White won a Golden Globe for Best Male Actor for his role as chef Carmy Berzatto in the FX hit show "The Bear."
"I can't believe I'm in this room, and there's all these people I've loved so much and admired so much for so long. It's unreal," White said in his acceptance speech last year.
"I love you guys so much. I must have done something right in this life to be in your company. Thank you guys. Thank you so much!" he added, thanking his costars.
