It’s been more than six months since the second season of popular Hindi series Panchayat released on Amazon Prime Video, but has retained its popularity with the audience.

Panchayat Season 2 is the third-most watched Hindi show, according to the latest Ormax Media report, named as Streaming Originals in India-The 2022 story.

The top 2

The most watched Hindi show was Disney Hotstar’s Rudra starring Ajay Devgn. It was followed by Bobby Deol’s Asharam S3 that streams on MX Player.

Panchayat S2 viewership

The slice of life story about a young man from a city, who takes up the job of a Sachiv or secretary in a village Panchayat office – had a viewership of 29.6 million in its second season.

Most liked and most buzzing Hindi show

Panchayat S2 however topped two more lists by Ormax. Not only was it the Most Buzzing Hindi show of 2022, it ranked on the top on yet another parameter – Most Liked Indian show as calculated by its OPR (Ormax Power Rating).

Ormax Power Rating or OPR

An OPR score on a 0-100 scale represents how much a show or a film is liked by its viewers. The number two and three spots were taken by Rocket Boys and Delhi Crime Season 2 in this list.

All-time most liked list

“Panchayat S2 was adored by the audience, with its high OPR of 75, placing it number 6 on the all-time list,” said Ormax.

Family Man holds all-time title

The all-time list of most loved shows is topped by The Family Man S2, which stars Manoj Bajpayee and Samantha Ruth Prabhu. It has an Ormax Power Rating of 85. Sony LIV’s Rocket Boys and Netflix’s Delhi Crime S2 take the next two spots.

Cast and crew

The hero of Panchayat, who is stuck between bureaucratic struggles and petty rural politics, is played by Jitendra Kumar. Veteran actors Raghubir Yadav and Neena Gupta, who play husband and wife, take turns at the Sarpanch seat.

While the first season touched on the inability of the hero to adjust to a rural lifestyle, the second season showcased serious issues like the Open Defecation Free or ODF-free status of villages, a young soldier who loses his life at war and more.
