  • Fans are obsessing over a tiny detail in one of the most unhinged sex scenes in "Bridgerton" season three.
  • In episode four, Colin and Penelope fool around in the back of the carriage.

Warning: spoilers ahead for "Bridgerton" season three, part one.

"Bridgerton" star Luke Newton improvised a move described as one of season three's most "insane" moments.

Since "Bridgerton" season three, part one, came out last Friday, fans have obsessed over the long-awaited sex scene between Colin Bridgerton (Newton) and Penelope Featherington in episode four.

In the scene, Colin puts his hand underneath Penelope's dress as they make out in a carriage. She moans in pleasure, but their moment is cut short when the carriage stops in front of the Bridgerton house.

Though the sex scene is steamy, Colin's next move sent fans into a frenzy. As he helps Penelope re-adjust her dress, he carefully uses all his fingers except those that were under her dress the moment before.

One fan wrote on X: "I KNOW ITS SUCH AN INAPPROPRIATE QUESTION TO ASK BUT FOR THE SAKE OF JOURNALISM I NEED SOMEONE TO TAKE ONE FOR THE TEAM AND ASK WHO'S IDEA IT WAS TO HAVE COLIN FIX PENELOPE'S DRESS WITH ONLY A FEW FINGERS."

This led to a number of humorous responses.

Andrew Ahn, who directed episodes 3 and 4 of the latest "Bridgerton" season, also replied to the post, saying Newton came up with that.

"I wish I could take credit for this incredible moment of… physical authenticity, but I did not give this piece of direction. It was all Luke Newton!" Ahn wrote.

Though these scenes are choreographed, the "Bridgerton" actors often have a lot of control over what happens, thanks to Lizzy Talbot, the show's intimacy coordinator.

Intimacy coordinators have been used on major film and TV sets like "Bridgerton" in recent years to support actors before, during, and after shooting intimate scenes.

Coughlan told NBC's "Today" last month: "We had so much control, we felt really empowered. We knew what points we had to hit but it didn't feel stilted or choreographed. We just were like, 'I trust you, you trust me, let's make it the best it can be.'"

Later in the interview, Coughlan also revealed that she and Newton couldn't hear Ahn while filming the carriage scene, so they kept going even after the director yelled cut.

"And the director had to come over and be like, 'What were you doing? I told you to stop," Coughlan said.

Coughlan and Newton also said in a video shared by Netflix on X that they felt a lot of pressure in the scene.

Fans were already eager for the moment, which is in "Romancing Mr. Bridgerton," the novel that season three is based on.

"The fans are horny little devils and they used to send us pictures of carriages constantly and carriages rocking," Coughlan said. "So this has to be beautiful, touching, romantic, and sexy, which is a lot of things."
