- North West says she wants to own her parents' brands Yeezy and SKIMS eventually.
- "I want to be a business owner," North told i-D in her first solo magazine cover.
North West said that she wants to follow in her parents' footsteps and become a "business owner" — specifically, by one day owning her parents' brands Yeezy and SKIMS.
In her first solo magazine cover interview with i-D magazine, North spoke about her style inspiration, her favorite fashion items, and "the best thing about being North West" — which she says is getting to play basketball, but also, "everything," and also, Halloween Horror Nights, presumably at Universal Studios.
The 10-year-old reflected on her future aspirations, which range from playing basketball, to becoming a rapper, to dog walking once she's 13 so that she can spend her money on art supplies.
"Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner," North told i-D.
Both of her parents, Kim Kardashian and Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, have built massive business empires. SKIMS aside, Kardashian also has her own skincare line, SKKN, as well as her private equity firm SKKY.
Ye previously revealed in a September 2022 interview with ABC News that he had told his eldest daughter not to let others "take over" the family businesses and to protect her younger siblings.
"I'm literally saying this to her because I realize she's one of the people in the family that will make sure that no one ever takes our company, no one ever takes what me and Kim have built with both of our brands and the brands that we're building now," Ye said.
Adidas, which produced Yeezy sneakers, severed its relationship with Ye in October 2022 after his antisemitic remarks. The loss of the partnership cut his net worth and led to Ye losing his billionaire status, Forbes reported.
North doesn't want to only follow in her parents' business footsteps. While she told i-D that she was her own style icon, she'd also like to eventually get her mother's and father's clothes.
"If they fit me," she told i-D.
